Anderson Pushes H.I.R.E. Plan to Create and Keep Michigan Jobs, Encourage Business Investment · October 14, 2010
LIVONIA – Glenn Anderson was joined by David Lawrence, Chief Administrative Officer of Alpha Stamping Company today as he announced his H.I.R.E. Plan to create jobs in Michigan and support small businesses. Anderson also called on his opponent John Pastor to pledge to support Hire Michigan First, legislation to place priority on hiring Michigan workers.

“I understand the needs of Michigan small businesses and have worked closely with companies like Alpha Stamping to help them grow,” said Anderson. “I have been a strong supporter of Hire Michigan First since the legislation was first introduced, and urge my opponent to pledge his support as well. I will continue to push for incentives, like those that have directly benefited area companies such as Detroit Diesel in Redford, and A123 Systems’ investment in Livonia, which will bring thousands of local jobs." Anderson: Yesterday’s Oil Spill Shows Need for Action on Great Lakes Drilling to Avoid Another Disaster · September 10, 2010
LANSING Glenn S. Anderson demanded urgent action today to hold corporate polluters like Enbridge accountable and protect Michigan’s natural resources and the Great Lakes from another oil spill by moving his legislation. Anderson’s plan, if approved by voters, would permanently ban drilling for oil in the Great Lakes and hold polluters accountable for all cleanup costs and damages related to oil spills and other pollution.

“How many more oil disasters is it going to take before the Michigan Senate stands up and moves my plan to protect our Great Lakes and freshwater from an oil spill,” Anderson said. “I introduced this legislation to make sure a BP-like disaster never happened on our shores. Days later, we had the Enbridge oil spill in the Kalamazoo River, and now this accident by the same company also near Lake Michigan. Majority Leader Bishop has already waited too long to add this to the November ballot. We can’t wait any longer to protect our freshwater, our land, our economy and our way of life from being ruined by an oil disaster or other corporate pollution and hold offenders accountable.” View »
